About 12.5 million unregistered SIMs invalidated

Vietnamese operators have invalidated 12.5 million unregistered SIM cards that had not been updated with their owners' personal information as required, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications, the subscribers' details did not match those in the national database.

The Vietnam-Brazil Friendship and Cooperation Association held the launch ceremony of the Portuguese-Vietnamese dictionary on September 6. The Portuguese-Vietnamese dictionary will serve as a valuable resource for studying and teaching Portuguese in Vietnam and promote mutual understanding and exchanges in politics, economics, and culture between Vietnam and Brazil and other Portuguese-speaking countries.

Twenty 20 renewable energy plants sell electricity

Only 20 of 85 renewable energy projects in Vietnam have been approved for commercial operation and electricity sales, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported. Many projects needed more legal documents to negotiate prices with State-owned utility Vietnam Electricity.

New railway line through the north on target

The Vietnam Railway Authority is considering the development of a railway line through nine northern provinces and cities, linking the Ha Khau International Border Gate in Lao Cai Province to Cai Lan Port in Quang Ninh Province. The 441-km line will pass through Hanoi's Dong Anh District, Haiphong city and Phu Tho Province, with 41 stations, 56 bridges and 11 tunnels. After the initial assessment, the railway authority will submit the development plan to the Ministry of Transport and Government agencies for review and evaluation.

Vietnamese PM wants more ASEAN agricultural products shipped to China via Vietnam

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 6 called on the Chinese Government to expand quotas and allow more ASEAN agricultural products to transit through Vietnam to its domestic market. He made the suggestion at the 26th ASEAN-China summit in Indonesia. 

Chinh said that ASEAN and China must work together to make Southeast Asia one of the world's economic growth engines by making the most of geographical advantages, expanding economic, trade and investment cooperation, and ensuring stable and smooth supply chains.

Energy efficiency competitions launched for industrial and construction enterprises

On September 6, the Vietnam Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Association (VECEA) and the Steering Committee of the Vietnam National Energy Efficiency Program launched the 2023 Awards for Efficient Energy Use in Industry and Construction and the Best Energy Efficient Products. The awards aim to recognize and encourage industrial and construction enterprises to apply energy efficiency solutions. Applications will be accepted until November 15, 2023.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for December 2023. The Ministry will label the best energy-efficient products. For more information, participants can log on to https://tietkiemnangluong.com.vn/.
