Vietnam parliament passes 72 bills in past five years

Laws have helped speed up the country’s development toward sustainable growth.

Vietnam’s National Assembly, the country’s highest legislative body, has passed 72 draft laws and two ordinances in its 14th term (2016-2021).

The list includes important ones like Law on Border Guards, Law on Environment Protection, Law on Technology Transfer, Law on International Agreements, Law on Management and Use of Public Assets, Law on Public Private Partnership, Law on Business, among others.

The ratification is aimed to boost the enforcement of the 2013 Constitution, according to reports at the 11th session of the NA’s 14th tenure, which opens in Hanoi today [March 24].

The NA also approved a number of international treaties, conventions, and trade agreements to serve the country’s greater integration into the global trading.

In addition, the NA has decided major projects, including some sections in the North-South Expressway for 2017-2020 period, components of Long Thanh International Airport, National Action Plan for Socio-economic Development in Mountainous Areas and among Ethnic Groups for 2021-2030, and suspension of Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power.

At the 11th session [to last until April 8] which is the last sitting of the NA’s 14th term, lawmakers will spend most of the time for personnel work and reviewing the working term of the NA, the government, and important state agencies.
