Vietnam PM presents Kishida Fumio with calligraphy

Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented his Japanese counterpart with calligraphy illustrating the new motto in bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh introduced Vietnamese culture via calligraphy to his Japanese counterpart Kishida Fumio and presented him with a piece of hand-lettering art with the words: “Chân thành, Tình cảm, Tin cậy” (Sincere, Affection, Trust) in both Vietnamese and Japanese.

The present was offered during Kishida's ongoing visit to Vietnam where he met PM Chinh, an old friend of him.

This is also the new motto in bilateral relations that has been agreed upon by both leaders during Chinh’s visit to Japan last November.

The Japanese Prime Minister thanked Chinh for the present, saying the art of calligraphy has been highly esteemed in Japan.

According to Kishida, similarities in culture between Vietnam and Japan would lay the foundation and strengthen the close ties between the two countries and people.

Kishida Fumio arrived at Noi Bai airport yesterday for a two-day visit to Vietnam, his first visit to Vietnam after he took office in November 2021.

The visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations following Chinh’s visit to Japan last year.

The Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership has been progressing strongly in all spheres, and the two are scheduled to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations by 2023.
