The meeting marked the attendance of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Executive Secretary of the Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong, Head of the Central Organization Commission Pham Minh Chinh, and Head of the Central Inspection Commission Tran Cam Tu.

According to Mr. Trong, personnel and political documents are the two most important issues of each congress. The personnel issues are expected to be on debate at the 12th plenum of the Party Central Committee, which is scheduled to take place in May 2020.

The president requires the Politburo, the country’s most powerful decision-making body, and the Party Central Committee to discuss thoroughly the personnel issues for the next Congress.

At the end of 2019, the Politburo approved the initial selection of 184 key officials for the 13th Congress. The personnel for the Congress will include re-elected members of the Central Party Committee.
