Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the rights, including fundamental ones are provided in the 2013 Constitution and different legal documents.

Vietnam has completed its regulatory framework and enforced rights protection as well as actively participating in international treaties on protecting human rights, Hang said at a press conference on March 11.

She took the UN Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group’s examination of Vietnam’s human rights record as an example, saying that the review, for the third time, received the participation of a number of countries with the majority of ideas are supportive and recommendations.

In Freedom House’s annual study of political rights and civil liberties worldwide, Vietnam is rated “Not Free”.
