Vietnam repatriates citizens from Middle East

So far, Vietnam has brought home more than 6,000 citizens on repatriation flights.

Vietnam has repatriated hundreds of citizens from some countries in the Middle East due to complicated outbreaks of coronavirus in the region.

On June 16, as many as 266 Vietnamese citizens arrived in the home country from Qatar, Egypt, and Kuwait thanks to efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Vietnamese missions abroad, and Bamboo Airways.

Passengers are children under 18, pregnant women, the sick, and laborers with terminated contracts and no salaries for months.

Repatriating citizens remains Vietnam’s priority to keep its citizens safe amid global uncertainty.

So far, the country has brought home more than 6,000 citizens. In the coming time, it plans to continue operating repatriation flights based on domestic and international pandemic evolution, demand, and quarantine capacity in the country.

As of June 16, Vietnam has confirmed 334 cases and reported no deaths.
