Vietnam to host 2025 ASEAN Police Football Tournament

The tournament aims to strengthen regional ties and celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Public Security.

THE HANOI TIMES — The 4th ASEAN Police Football Tournament will take place in Hanoi from July 5 to 15, with eight teams from seven countries competing.

Organized by the Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), matches will be held at Hanoi's Hang Day Stadium and the PVF Stadium in Hung Yen Province.

Competing teams include five ASEAN teams (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, and Timor-Leste), one guest team (Australia), and two Vietnamese squads (Vietnam People’s Public Security I and II).

The teams will be divided into two groups. Group A, in Hanoi, comprises Vietnam I, Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia, while Group B, in Hung Yen, features Vietnam II, Australia, Singapore, and Timor-Leste.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for July 9 at the Hang Day Stadium, and the final match will be held on July 15. Side events include cultural exchanges, a welcome banquet, and a visit to Ha Long Bay, one of the natural wonders of the world.

Colonel Pham Kim Dinh, Head of the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security's Department of Political Affairs, emphasized the tournament’s dual role in fostering international security cooperation and promoting Vietnam’s image as a "peaceful and hospitable" nation.

According to Nguyen Thanh Ha, VFF's Deputy General Secretary, the VFF will oversee refereeing, with match officials from Malaysia, Hong Kong (China), and Thailand ensuring fair play under the motto "Solidarity – Honesty – Nobility."

The champion will take home US$30,000, while the runners-up and the team that places third will earn US$15,000 and US$10,000, respectively. Individual awards include "Best Player" and "Top Scorer." Matches will be livestreamed on FPT Play and broadcast nationally.
