Vietnam to mobilize all forces for National Assembly election

State agencies and localities are required to make all-out efforts for democratic, fair, and safe election.

Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked different state agencies to prepare well for the election of National Assembly (NA)’s deputies for the 15th tenure (2021-25) and representatives of the People’s Councils for 2021-26.

Vietnam mobilizes all forces to ensure the election is "a festival for all people" 

Under Decree 02/CT-TTg, ministries, localities, and state bodies need to make all-out efforts to ensure safety for the election which is slated for May 23, 2021 and its dissemination.

The joint efforts are expected to make the events democratic, fair, legal, safe, economical, and “a festival for all people”. All cadidates who stand for the election will have to make their owned assets declaration under the Government Inspectorate's instruction.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) needs to cooperate with related agencies to guide media outlets in covering news on the election in terms of its meaning and importance as well as the voters’ rights to stand for election and vote.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment is tasked with directing the General Statistics Office to provide population data of each locality as a basis for calculating the number of the NA deputies and People’s Council deputies at all levels.

MIC and the Ministry of Transport are required to make plans on smooth transport and communication ahead and during the voting.

The Ministry of Nationbal Defence and the Ministry of Public Security are in charge of mapping out security plans. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance is requested to allocate budget for the election to central agencies and localities in effective and economical spirit.

The Ministry of Health cooperates with relevant agencies to update and conduct measures against the Covid-19 pandemic, mostly in cases of disease outbreaks, while the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development works with authorized agencies to cope with possible natural disasters.
