Vietnam tourism sector prepares to welcome international visitors

International visitors are looking forward to being able to freely enter Vietnam, starting from the third quarter.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just released a plan on stimulus policies to restore tourism activities in the late 2021 and early 2022 period. According to the plan, it is necessary to ensure the government’s dual goals of pandemic prevention and socio-economic development at the same time.

Accordingly, in addition to Phu Quoc, which will pilot the “vaccine passports” in October, Vietnam’s other famous tourist destinations such as Ha Long, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Dalat, among others, are expected to open to international visitors.

In addition to safety measures to prevent the pandemic such as 5K messages (Facial mask; Disinfection; Distance; No gathering; Health declaration) and upgrading the national health system, the ministry will call on the government to speed up Covid-19 vaccination at travel destinations.

Along with that, stimulus campaigns that have been effective in 2020 such as “Vietnamese People Travel to Vietnam”, “Vietnam Tourism: Safe and Attractive” will be relaunched. Besides, various tourism products such as nightlife and culinary exploring, ecotourism, golf vacation, among others are also being planned.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to carry out this stimulus campaign, they will upgrade the online travel applications which are already available on smartphones such as “Vietnam Safe Travel”, “Health declaration" and “Vaccinated Certification”, among others.

For Hanoi, depending on the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the city, some domestic tourism activities will be reestablished soon.

According to Deputy Director in charge of Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu, right this September, the department will adjust the communication plan on domestic tourism stimulation as well as build up some inter-provincial tourism products.

Previously, during the regular Government meeting on September 6, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged Kien Giang Province to soon pilot the travel program on welcoming international tourists to Phu Quoc Island. It is expected that there will be two or three million international visitors to the island by the end of this year.

As scheduled, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism are having a working session with the People’s Committee of Kien Giang province on the pilot plan today.
