Vietnamese peacekeepers assert the country's position

Vietnamese peacekeepers quickly adapt to every situation and gradually build a good image of Vietnam in the eyes of international friends through daily activities.

The first group of 30 Vietnamese military doctors that departed for South Sudan on October 1, 2018 to take over a field hospital, carrying out the United Nations’ (UN) international mission helps affirm Vietnam’s position.

In October 2018, Vietnam’s first field hospital, the first-ever independent unit of Vietnam to join the UN peacekeeping mission, deployed two groups of 63 officiers to Bentiu, South Sudan. 

This event marks the outstanding growth of Vietnam's peacekeeping force, showing Vietnam's commitment to actively engaging international integration, contributing to in international humanitarian affairs, and keeping world security and peace, said Deputy Minister of Defense Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Chi Vinh.

According to the deputy defense minister, Vietnamese peacekeepers quickly adapt to every situation and gradually build a good image of Vietnam in the eyes of international friends through daily activities. Overcoming the inclement South Sudan's weather, Vietnamese green beret soldiers have demonstrated the hardworking and braving adversities tradition of the Vietnamese people.

Vietnam peacekeepers not only perform their duties in South Sudan but also make efforts to fulfill their commitment to becoming cultural and goodwill ambassadors in the new era, said the deputy minister.

On December 13, 2018, the Defense Ministry launched a training course for 70 staff members of the second level-2 field hospital. According to Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Vietnam’s participation in the UN’s peacekeeping mission is a breakthrough in implementing the Party’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development.

Efforts of Vietnamese peacekeepers and soldiers in South and those of officers and employees of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Bureau not only make Vietnamese people feel proud but also contributes to affirming Vietnam’s position in international relations, Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Chi Vinh stressed.
