Vietnamese youth library opens in Russia

To strengthen the role of books for young people, the Youth Library of Russia will host thematic exchanges, reading days, storytelling competitions, writing about books, book days and book fairs.

The Youth Library - a place of cultural and emotional activities for all Vietnamese youth studying in the "Land of White Birch" was opened on December 8 by the Vietnamese Students Association in Russia.

The event was part of activities marking important milestones of the Vietnamese community in Russia and relations between the two countries, including the Fourth Congress of the Vietnamese Association in Russia and the 75th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations.

The library features about 1,200 book titles in various fields such as history, politics, economics, and culture, in both Vietnamese and foreign languages. A digital catalog on the association's website helps students explore the collection remotely.

In addition to serving as a meeting place for book lovers, the library also displays memorabilia and awards highlighting the achievements of Vietnamese students in Russia.

The library plans to host activities such as book discussions, reading days, and storytelling competitions to promote reading culture.

It also serves as a place to display memorabilia, souvenirs, gifts, and certificates of merit earned by the Vietnamese Students Association in Russia for their achievements in education, volunteer work, and fatherland-related activities. This will gradually create a meeting place for tens of thousands of future owners of the country during their time of studying, training and growing up in Russia.

Le Huynh Duc, President of the Vietnamese Student Association in Russia, said the library is the result of two years of efforts inspired by Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi's vision of a cultural space for students in Moscow. Support from organizations such as the Tradition and Friendship Fund and the Vietnamese community in Russia made the initiative possible, with contributions from young volunteers who donated books and established operating procedures.

Speaking at the event, Ngo Thi Thu Hoai, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee in Russia, emphasized the importance of the initiative as it was held before the 4th Congress of the Vietnamese Association in Russia. She affirmed that reading is a way to improve oneself, and the library will be a place to enjoy books and connect young Vietnamese in Russia.
