Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue gave the remarks during a meeting with the Chairman of the Korea-Vietnam  ParliamentariansGroup Kim Tae-nyeon on August 24.

At the meeting, Hue welcomed the South Korean delegation's visit to Vietnam, saying it would further deepen the Vietnam-South Korea strategic partnership in general, and the cooperation between the two parliaments in particular, amid the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam-South Korea relations (1992-2022).

According to Hue, bilateral relations have progressed strongly in all spheres, with the active contribution from the entire political system and the people.

“High level of political trust is the foundation for the close cooperation between the two countries and mutual benefits,” he continued.

Hue also highlighted the strong progress in cooperation between legislative bodies of Vietnam and South Korea, contributing to the realization of agreements reached between leaders of both countries.

For the coming time, Hue called for both sides to continue maintaining high-level exchange visits and sharing of experiences in parliament operations.

Chairman of the Korea-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group Kim Tae-nyeon regarded the visit of South Korean Chairman of the National Assembly Park Byeong Seug to Vietnam in 2020 and the visit of the Vietnamese counterpart, Vuong Dinh Hue, to South Korea in 2021 amid the Covid-19 outbreak saying an example for the robust Vietnam-South Korea relations.

Kim expressed his deep impression of the development of bilateral partnership, stressing Vietnam is among the key partners of South Korea not only in Southeast Asia but also in the India-Pacific region.

He noted the two countries had gained significant achievements in bilateral cooperation over the past 30 years, especially in politics, economy, and culture.

According to Kim, both countries could further improve the partnership in priority areas, including lifting the two-way trade turnover to US$150 billion by 2030; stepping up cooperation in climate change response, healthcare, security-defense, and cultural exchange.

Kim noted the newly-elected Chairman of the South Korean Assembly Kim Jin-pyo has given priority to enhancing Vietnam-South Korea relations and expected the cooperation between the two legislative bodies would further flourish in the coming time.

He added the South Korean Government is taking steps to ensure the resilience of the supply chains and expected active cooperation from the Vietnamese counterpart in this regard.

In the near future, Kim called for lawmakers from both sides to strengthen cooperation in diversified areas, including woman advancement, healthcare, education, and training.

Hanoi and Seoul, South Korea, are twin towns, having many similarities and maintaining a strong twinning relationship for more than 20 years. Initially, the two cities focused on cooperation in e-government, information and telecommunications technology, flood management, then expanded to culture and education.

The multisectoral cooperation with Seoul is of great significance to Hanoi. For example, the cooperation has helped Hanoi a lot in its development strategy for 2030 and a vision for 2050. It enables Hanoi to shorten the process of developing this strategy, especially in the field of environment.
