Africa’s largest airline to launch direct flights to Vietnam

The new route is expected to boost trade and tourism, strengthening the connection between Africa and Southeast Asia.

Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopia's national flag carrier, will operate its inaugural flight from Addis Ababa to Hanoi on July 11, 2025, having received approval from Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority.

The departure from Addis Ababa will be on July 10, with the return flight departing the same day.

With this route, Ethiopian Airlines will launch its first direct service to Vietnam. The airline is working with Vietnam Airlines to enhance connectivity and expand their network between Africa and Southeast Asia.

Founded in 1945, Ethiopian Airlines is currently the largest air carrier in Africa. Headquartered in Addis Ababa, the airline operates international services to 80 destinations and domestic flights to 28 locations.

Ethiopian Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance and maintains a fleet of over 140 aircraft, including Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s. As it continues to expand its global reach, the airline is improving its service quality and position in the global aviation industry.
