All set for 80th grand celebration of National Day in Hanoi

Hanoi works with the highest responsibility and the full dedication and affection toward the nation.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi has completed preparations for the 80th grand celebration of National Day, which falls on September 2, according to the municipal People's Committee.

Nearly 6,600 delegates from across the country will partake in the commemorative ceremony in Hanoi for the grand parade and festivities marking eight decades since national independence on September 2, 1945.

To provide the best conditions for participants, the Hanoi People's Committee has issued a request to local government agencies on welcoming delegations and preparing accommodations, healthcare, travel, and security across the city.

In the request, the municipal government tasks the Hanoi Department of Tourism to work with other agencies to manage accommodation, meals and transport for participating delegates.

The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports is tasked with preparing delegate credentials, seating maps, and vehicle permits.

Hanoi government assigns the Hanoi Departments of Public Security and Construction with traffic management and vehicle routing from city gateways to hotels and Ba Dinh Square.

To ensure immediate responses to health emergencies, the Hanoi Department of Health must stand ready with medical plans, disease prevention and food safety oversight at hotels.

Ward and commune authorities hosting delegates will reinforce security, order and environmental sanitation.

Local staff are also stationed at the hotels for immediate assistance.

The city has arranged rooms at leading hotels and recommended high-quality lodging options for the delegations.

Careful attention is being given to a group of 16 special guests, including heroic Vietnamese mothers, war invalids, veterans, and People’s Armed Forces Heroes. They will be accommodated at Daewoo Hotel, arriving a day before the official ceremony.

Health services are enhanced for the event, with emergency teams arranged in and near the parade area, including Ba Dinh Square, Bac Son Street, Bach Thao and Thong Nhat parks, and along major streets.

Absolute safety for all commemorative activities

Hanoi security forces are ready to fulfill tasks in guaranteeing the security and success of the upcoming grand celebration ceremony, said Colonel Nguyen Thanh Long, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Public Security.

The department has developed a comprehensive plan based on field surveys and assessments, he told The Hanoi Times.

"We have arranged maximum forces and equipment, and worked with the ministries of Public Security and National Defense and other central and local government agencies to ensure absolute safety for all commemorative activities," said Long.

During recent rehearsal days, Hanoi’s traffic police have controlled and regulated traffic, ensuring smooth flows and preventing congestion in key areas. Functional forces promptly handled any arising issues relating to urban order and environmental sanitation.

In mid August, the Hanoi Department of Public Security received 600 traffic police officers along with vehicles and equipment from the Ministry of Public Security to maximize efforts in safeguarding the grand celebrations.

To create favorable conditions for people and visitors to attend rehearsals, the Hanoi traffic police have detailed plans to support their traveling.

This is an important political mission, associated with the honor and pride of every officer and soldier of Hanoi forces, Long added.

“This is also an opportunity for us to prove our courage and devotion to serving the people,” he said.

According to Vo Nguyen Phong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, the city has ensured sufficient essential supplies for people and delegate attending the ceremony.

Specifically, the supplies include over 830,000 cakes, nearly one million bottles of water, more than 220,000 boxes of milk, over 200,000 bottles of other beverages, and tens of thousands of items such as hats, paper fans and raincoats.

Along the parade routes streching for a total distance of 10 kilometers, the Hanoi Youth Union is in charge of distributing supplies for delegates and people at 67 points.

"This is an opportunity for us to contribute to the historic event of the country. We are all prepared to fulfill every task,” Ngo Huong Linh, a student from the Youth Union of the Hanoi Medical College, told The Hanoi Times.

The celebrations involve 8,800 voluntary students from 43 universities, colleges and localities across the capital.

"Our jobs are to work with ward and commune people’s committees and the police forces, collect waste, secure the streets and prevent traffic congestion," she said.

“The Government has entrusted us, and the whole country is looking towards the capital. Therefore, Hanoi must not only work with the highest responsibility but with the full dedication and affection toward the nation," Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai said.

"This is the time for all sectors and every Hanoian to demonstrate their elegance, civility and solidarity, affirming the glory of the Ho Chi Minh era,” said the secretary.
