Bird’s eye view of Hung King Temple before national anniversary

THE HANOI TIMES — The death anniversary of the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of Vietnam, is a national holiday that will fall on the 10th day of the third lunar month, or April 7, 2025, an occasion for the gatherings of Vietnamese people across the country and abroad.

The temple complex, located in Viet Tri City, the northern province of Phu Tho, is more solemn a few days ahead of the holiday.

The Hanoi Times helps you explore the Hung King Temple complex, the country's special historical relic.

The complex serves as a sacred space to honor the Hung Kings, the nation’s founders and the ancestors of the Vietnamese people.

Nghia Linh Mountain, once the capital of the Van Lang State, hosts an array of impressive historical relics.

These days, Bombax ceiba flowers burst into bloom around Den Ha (Lower Temple) area.

The Upper Temple hosts the most vital ceremonies of the Hung Kings commemoration activities.

Known also as Hung Vuong Tomb, it is thought to be the burial site of the 6th Hung King, a fabled leader of the Van Lang State in Vietnam’s history.

People from far and wide converge on the historical relic to burn incense and honor the Hung Kings.
