With the new status, the famous beach city is expected to become one of the socio-economic centers in Vietnam and Southeast Asia in accordance to a planning, which has been approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

In the adjusted Danang City Master Plan to 2030 and a vision to 2045 by Singaporean consulting firms, it will provide leading services in trade, finance, hi-tech, IT, and supporting industries.

The city will be filled with financial, commercial, and recreation areas namely monument zone, VinaCapital Danang golf course, Danang International Firework Festival zone, parks in the south of Son Tra Peninsula, Ba Na-Suoi Mo Ecotourism, Ba Na Hills Tourism, Lang Van Resort, and InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula.

In addition, an area of 1,710 ha will be home to Danang Hi-tech Park, IT Zone, Software Zone, Danang University Urban Area, Creative Center and Software Park.

Following the planning, a number of transport projects will be built and upgraded like Danang International Airport on an area of 856 ha able to handle 30 million passengers/year and dozens of the city’s inner roads.

Famous architect Ngo Viet Nam Son who offered ideas to Singapore’s consultants said he has special interest in designing Danang’s central part for the future which remained unclear until this planning.

The central part will have Danang International Airport as its core zone surrounded by buildings and coastal urban areas connecting Hai Chau, Son Tra, and Ngu Hanh Son Districts by updated public means of transport.

“If the city is good at planning high-rise buildings, there will be plenty of land for parks which has numbered a few now,” Son told VNExpress.

Danang is expected to become a special metropolis with 1.79 million people and 32% of its land to be used for urban development, according to the adjustment of Danang City Master Plan to 2030 and vision to 2045 provided by Singapore-based Sakae Corporate Advisory (SCA) and Surbana Jurong Consultants.

With an economic development strategy included in the plan, Danang is expected to become a global lifestyle destination with an economy driven by tourism and the maritime sectors.
