All citizens can access to affordable housing: PM
A house is a fundamental right for every citizen and everyone deserves equal, transparent and fair access to housing that fits their paycheck.
THE HANOI TIMES — Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on February 26 urged the Central Steering Committee on Housing and Real Estate Market Policies and local authorities to expand housing supply and ensure equal access to affordable homes for all citizens
The Government leader, who chairs the committee, made the call while presiding over the committee’s 6th hybrid session in Hanoi, which was connected online with all 34 cities and provinces.

He stressed that housing is a fundamental right and policies must balance the interests of the state, citizens and developers.
"Housing supply should span commercial and social segments, with adequate and inclusive infrastructure for all projects," said Chinh.
Last year, the government issued a series of measures to remove bottlenecks, particularly in social housing, resulting in more than 100,000 units completed nationwide and keeping the country on track to reach one million units by 2028. However, rising prices are placing growing pressure on middle-income earners, including workers earning around VND20 million (US$770) a month.
The prime minister urged ministries and localities to free up land for affordable commercial projects, accelerate land-use and construction planning and provide preferential credit to support mid-range developments and homebuyers.
“The ultimate goal is to ensure that anyone in need of housing can access it fairly and transparently, while eliminating negative practices,” he said, assigning the Ministry of Construction to coordinate with relevant agencies to remove obstacles and deliver practical results.
In the coming period, he called for implementing a comprehensive approach focused on a clear understanding, breakthrough thinking, appropriate policies, effective market oversight, streamlined procedures, inclusive development and harmonious benefits to ensure people genuinely benefit.
