Haiphong to grant US$15-billion investment licenses
The investment in the northern coastal city is expected to boost its tourism, positioning it as a dynamic, open, globally connected city. .
THE HANOI TIMES — Haiphong authorities plan to hand over licences, certificates, and memoranda of understanding for new investment projects with a total of US$15 billion.
The plan will be released at an international conference next week, which is part of the Third Meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC 3) on July 15-18 to foster Haiphong’s economy, investment, and tourism.
Around 700 delegates from 21 economies, as well as international enterprises and organizations, will attend the conference alongside Vietnamese participants.
Delegates will discuss Haiphong's main investment priorities, signature development models, and business environment.
As part of ABAC 3, Haiphong will take the delegates' spouses and accompanying guests on a tour of Chu Dau Ceramic Village, one of the oldest craft villages in Vietnam, and on a cruise through Lan Ha Bay and the Cat Ba Archipelago, which are listed as UNESCO international tangible heritage sites.

The four-day event will also feature an exhibition displaying local specialties and cultural and artistic shows with traditional music ensembles, water puppetry, folk performances, and live demonstrations of calligraphy and toy figurine crafting.
Themed “Haiphong: Convergence of Identity, Affirming Position, Shaping the Future,” the ABAC 3 is expected to attract investment, enhance Haiphong's appeal as a cultural destination, foster lasting partnerships, and demonstrate its commitment to becoming a dynamic, open, and globally connected city.
