Hanoi acts to keep prices stable before year-end

The city aims to balance supply and demand, stabilize prices and ensure the timely delivery of essential items to residents citywide.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi will roll out measures to stabilize prices across the city during the remaining months of 2025, as requested by Truong Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.

According to the signed document, local agencies and authorities must ensure the supply of essential materials and daily goods vital for production and livelihoods, with the aim of curbing inflation and providing reassurance to consumers and businesses, especially during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

The market stabilization plan includes 12 measures, including forecasting, price monitoring, financial support, infrastructure, expanding suburban sales points, upgrading stores and safe food chains, and promoting e-commerce, hotlines, and QR code traceability on check.hanoi.gov.vn.

Hanoi will step up market supervision to enforce price declarations and strictly punish unfair price hikes or illegal surcharges, while advancing digital price management by improving online services, databases and e-declaration platforms to make reporting easier for businesses and organizations.

Coordinated efforts will keep managing and stabilizing prices in line with each sector’s responsibilities, with a special focus on combating smuggling, commercial fraud, counterfeit goods, and poor-quality products.

The Department of Industry and Trade will decide which goods to include, approve participating businesses, and keep track of supply through the hotline 024.2215.5572. It will also organize regional sales and send mobile shops to parks, hospitals, and schools.

The price stabilization program has encouraged more businesses to invest and widen their distribution networks. Companies that join the program get support such as facilities, low-interest loans, and priority to sell in schools, hospitals, and shops.

In addition, Hanoi will also strengthen cooperation with other localities to secure its supplies.
