Despite the ongoing impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, housing development is still being promoted.
Hanoi completed 12 commercial housing projects with 5,022 apartments and 469 detached houses with a combined floor area of nearly 546,000 square meters of floor area, in 2021.

The city also issued more than 12,000 construction permits, equivalent to nearly five million square meters of floor area.
The results of the city’s housing development plan for the 2021-2025 period were announced at the conference held on January 6 to evaluate the execution of the 2021 program, orientation and tasks for 2022, and Program 03 of the municipal Party Committee on urban economic development and renovation in the 2021-2025 period.
According to the Hanoi Department of Construction, despite the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, housing development is still being promoted. Vo Nguyen Phong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Construction, said that solutions to effectively and synchronously develop the real estate market are also the department’s priority.
The capital is expected to issue a plan to inspect the compliance with the Law on Real Estate Business and the Law on Housing by residential construction projects that are eligible for listing properties, promulgating Document No. 1153 on strengthening the management of the real estate market in the city.
Phong also added, in 2021, the city completed and approved six subdivision planning projects with a total area of 2,710 ha, one project related to the local adjustment of the general planning and another two related to the local adjustment of subdivision planning. The city also appraised 19 plans and sped up the implementation of two others.
The city will continue to complete the urban subdivisions projects for Red River, Duong River, and 31 subdivision planning for five satellite urban areas.
Wrapping up the conference, Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council, and Head of the Steering Committee for Program 03, emphasized that the Steering Committee has implemented very specific work, clearly assigning tasks and completing the legal basis for Housing development.
He asked leaders of departments, branches, districts, towns to accelerate residential construction in a substantive and drastic way, especially in conditions of safe adaptation to the pandemic
Tuan requested the municipal Department of Construction to devise specific targets of the program as well as clearly define tasks. In addition, the districts need to review and re-evaluate all indicators to identify problems and difficulties, and propose their removal, ensuring progress and quality of the projects.
