Hanoi holds grand rehearsal with cannon fire ahead of Vietnam’s 80th national day

The cannon fire rose beyond ceremony, echoing as a heartbeat of unity that stirred gratitude, applause, smiles and even tears across the crowd.

THE HANOI TIMES — A rehearsal for the 80th National Day celebrations took place at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi on August 30, featuring ceremonial cannon fire and preparations for the grand parade.

Fifteen ceremonial cannons were arranged in rows at My Dinh National Stadium, their barrels polished and decorated with the national flag as part of the State-level rehearsal for the 80th National Day celebrations.

At the scheduled time, the cannons fired, their echoes sweeping across the stadium and surrounding areas. The rehearsal drew the participation of multiple military units and was observed by spectators, including veterans, families, and young people.

Applause followed each volley, reflecting a shared sense of unity and national pride ahead of the September 2 celebrations.
