The historical significance of the capital's Liberation Day will be the theme of the contest.

The Hanoi Party Committee, in cooperation with the Hanoi Youth Union, held the opening ceremony of a competition on the 70th anniversary of the capital's Liberation Day [October 10, 1954 - 2024].

At the opening ceremony, Chu Hong Minh, Secretary of the Hanoi Communist Youth Union, said the contest was open to officials, Party members, people from all walks of life in the capital and people throughout the country, as well as foreigners living in Vietnam.

"The contest will focus on the importance and historical significance of the capital's Liberation Day, the glorious tradition of the revolutionary struggle, and the great contributions of the Party Committee, the armed forces, and the people of Hanoi in liberating the nation and subsequently building and protecting it," Minh added.

The competition consists of two rounds: the preliminary round and the final round. In the preliminary round, candidates register for an account on a website to take an online multiple-choice test over 12 weeks.

After each week of testing, the Organizing Committee will select three contestants with the fastest answers and highest multiple-choice test scores to receive the weekly prize. At the end of each month, the committee will award first, second, third, and consolation prizes to the top four contestants for the four weeks.

After 12 weeks of competition, 16 contestants will be selected to compete in the final round, including 12 contestants who won first place in the 12-week competition and four contestants with the best essay answers.

They will be divided into four teams to compete in a round-robin format. The final round is expected to take place in August.

Detailed rules can be found on the contest website at www.tuyengiaothudo.vn

At the launch ceremony, Nguyen Doan Toan, Head of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda and Education Commission, said that 70 years ago, tens of thousands of Hanoians rejoiced in the capital's Liberation Day atmosphere.

"Looking back at the city's development process from this brilliant milestone, it becomes even more clear that the linchpin of Hanoi's development as it is today is the spirit of solidarity and indomitable will of the capital's people," Toan stressed.

Toan urges agencies and socio-political organizations to actively encourage officials, Party members, union members, and local people from all walks of life to participate in the contest.

Toan also asked the Hanoi Youth Union to closely coordinate with relevant units in organizing the contest and to be proactive and flexible in handling any technical issues that may arise during the process.
