Hanoi Mayor appointed as Chairman of Party’s Central Inspection Commission

He assumes the position previously held by Nguyen Duy Ngoc, who has been appointed by the Politburo as Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Party Central Committee at its 14th session today [November 5] elected Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh as Chairman of the 13th Central Inspection Commission.

Thanh was born in 1971 in Nghe An and holds a master’s degree in economics. He is a member of the 11th (alternate), 12th and 13th Party Central Committees and has served as a National Assembly deputy in the 14th (2016-2021) and 15th (2021-2026) tenures.

In 2004, he was appointed Chief of Office of the State Treasury, then became Deputy Director General of the State Treasury under the Ministry of Finance before being transferred to the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee.

He was later elected and approved as Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak People’s Committee and in 2010 became Deputy Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee.

From 2011 to 2012, he served as a member of the Central Inspection Commission. In 2012, he became Secretary of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2010–2015 term. In February 2015, he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission.

In October 2015, the Politburo assigned him as Secretary of the Lang Son Provincial Party Committee. At the end of 2017, he became Deputy Head of the Party Central Economic Commission while also serving as Party Secretary and Chairman of the Members’ Council of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group.

In August 2020, the Politburo transferred him to the Office of the National Assembly and appointed him as a member of the 14th National Assembly Party Delegation. He then served as Deputy Chairman of the Office of the National Assembly.

In April 2021, Tran Sy Thanh was elected State Auditor General.

Since July 2022, he has served as Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
