From February 14 to 22, the policy will apply to all 128 subsidized bus routes and the Cat Linh-Ha Dong and Nhon-Cau Giay metro lines to facilitate travel to the city center, festivals and entertainment venues during Tet, according to the Hanoi Traffic Management and Operation Center.

Passengers will still receive tickets, but will not be required to pay. Monthly pass holders and priority card users can continue using their cards under existing regulations.

To ensure safe and effective operations, the municipal Department of Construction has been assigned to coordinate with the Traffic Management and Operation Center, public bus operators and Hanoi Railway Company Ltd. to develop a plan aligned with higher holiday demand. Relevant agencies and local authorities will also step up communications to encourage public transport use.

Officials said the free services contribute to social welfare, help ease congestion, protect the environment and promote public transport habits, while reinforcing Hanoi’s image as a modern and friendly capital.

Separately, Cua Nam Ward will organize free parking areas for residents and visitors during Tet.

Parking hours run from 5 PM on February 16 to 1 AM on February 17; and from 9 AM to 8 PM from February 17 to 22.

Free parking sites include Trung Vuong Secondary School (26 Hang Bai Street), Tran Phu High School - Hoan Kiem (8 Hai Ba Trung Street), Ngo Si Lien Secondary School (27-29 Ham Long Street) and Viet Duc High School (47 Ly Thuong Kiet Street).
