Hanoi to host opening night of “Vietnam Journey”
This not-for-profit cultural project pays tribute to heritage, unity, and the enduring spirit of the Vietnamese people.
THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi on August 3 will host a music event to kick off the nationwide nonprofit cultural project "Vietnam Journey" to honor Vietnamese heritage and promote sustainable tourism.
Themed Flags in the Sky of the Fatherland, the inaugural event will resonate with the spirit of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day (September 2), offering the public a night of profound musical and emotional connection.

The performance will feature artists, including Music Director Nguyen Xuan Hung; Meritorious Artist Minh Thu; singer Khanh Linh; the folk duo Nguyen Dong and Hoang Trang; and flutist Suong Mai.
Designed to harmonize with the historically rich setting of Hanoi, the stage will evoke the intimacy of nature and the grandeur of tradition, promising an unforgettable cultural experience.
The Vietnam Journey project is a five-year cultural and tourism endeavor (2025–2030) organized by Vietourist Holdings and the Charity Fund for the Community. The project will bring 35 cultural events to 34 provinces and cities across the country, including the Truong Sa Archipelago. Each destination will host community-based activities, such as traditional music concerts, folk art exhibitions, craft village tours, culinary showcases, and local tourism experiences.
According to the organizing committee, the project draws inspiration from the Du Ca movement in Vietnam of the 1960s, which fostered civic engagement and national unity through music. "Our goal is to revive that same spirit by bringing people together through cultural expression and using music as a bridge between generations, regions, and communities," said a Vietourist Holdings representative.
A highlight of the project is the concert series, which will be held in culturally and historically significant locations. The music program will include folk songs, lullabies, revolutionary anthems, and traditional melodies that reflect the diverse soul of Vietnam. These melodies have been carefully curated to reflect the landscape, people, and spirit of each locality.
True to its nonprofit mission, all events are free and open to the public. Donations and proceeds raised through the project will support infrastructure development in the Mekong Delta, such as building bridges and roads, and will fund scholarships for disadvantaged students across the 35 host locations.
The journey begins in Hanoi, signaling not only the start of a vibrant cultural campaign but also a heartfelt invitation for Vietnamese citizens and international visitors alike to rediscover the beauty of Vietnam through music, memory, and community spirit.
