Hanoi to host United Nations convention signing on cybercrime

The decision to hold the treaty’s signing ceremony in Hanoi marks a historic achievement for Viet Nam’s multilateral diplomacy and 47 years of its partnership with the United Nations.

THE HANOI TIMES — For the first time, a United Nations treaty will bear the name of a Vietnamese location. The “Hanoi Convention” adopted by consensus, is a milestone in global efforts to combat cybercrime.

On December 24 in New York (December 25, VietNam time), the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted the UN Convention on Cybercrime.

Under Article 64 of the Convention, it will be open for signature in Hanoi in 2025, officially titled the “Hanoi Convention”.
