Hanoi’s high-ranking delegation visits Laos

Hanoi has always been committed to promoting cooperation with Vientiane in all fields for the mutual development of the two capitals.

The high-level delegation from Hanoi, led by Phung Thi Hong Ha, Deputy Chairwoman of the Hanoi Municipal People's Council, visited Laos from April 20-24.

 Hanoi's high-ranking delegation visits the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos. 

The working visit is part of Hanoi's 2023 foreign policy plan and was made at the invitation of the Chairman of the Vientiane Capital People's Council. The visit coincided with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.

The main objective of the visit was to facilitate coordination between the Hanoi People's Council and the Vientiane Capital People's Council in various fields, including exchanging experiences in drafting legal documents and making decisions on important issues.

It also aimed to improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of supervision, questioning and explanation activities in accordance with the functions, duties and powers of the People's Councils. In addition, the visit would contribute to organizing promotional activities, encouraging product consumption, and promoting social security cooperation between the two capitals.

During the visit on April 20, the Hanoi delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos. On behalf of the leaders of Hanoi and the delegation, Phung Thi Hong Ha extended warm greetings and congratulations to all officials and staff of the Embassy.

In discussing Hanoi's socio-economic development in recent years, Ha stressed that Hanoi is always aware that as the capital, it represents the country in expanding foreign relations.

"Hanoi is committed to performing well in foreign affairs on behalf of the whole country and attaches high priority to important political relations, especially with Laos and the capital Vientiane," Ha said.

She stressed that Hanoi has always been committed to promoting cooperation with Vientiane in all fields for the mutual development of the two capitals.

This cooperation contributes to maintaining and enhancing the special traditional friendship between the two parties, states, and peoples. Hanoi and Vientiane have been working together to expand cooperation in other fields, tailored to the conditions of both sides, for the common benefit of the peoples of the two capitals.

Highlighting the role of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos for its active support and continuous cooperation in implementing cooperation activities with its Lao counterparts, Ha conveyed wishes to the Embassy's officials and staff for the successful completion of tasks entrusted by the Party, State, and people.

She affirmed that Hanoi has been and will continue to be a supportive and close companion in external activities with Laos.

At the meeting, the Counsellor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, Phan Minh Chien, expressed his gratitude to the Hanoi delegation and assured them of the Embassy's continued support and coordination with Hanoi in external activities with Laos.
