Homeland Spring 2026 honors overseas Vietnamese with shared aspirations

Homeland Spring 2026 in Hanoi marks Tet with cultural performances and cuisine, honoring overseas Vietnamese contributions and strengthening national unity.

The event strengthens bonds between overseas Vietnamese communities and the homeland. It recognizes their lasting contributions and encourages continued engagement in national development.

This year’s program will feature a Vietnamese Culinary Festival and the Xuan Que Huong 2026 Art Performance. VTV1 and VTV4 will broadcast the event live on the evening of February 8.

Over the years, the Homeland Spring program has become a signature event for Vietnamese communities worldwide ahead of the Lunar New Year. The program highlights the Party and State’s consistent engagement with overseas Vietnamese and reinforces their enduring ties with the homeland.

With nearly 6.5 million people living in more than 130 countries and territories, overseas Vietnamese contribute knowledge and expertise to national strategies and policy making. Around 600,000 overseas Vietnamese hold university degrees or higher.

Many intellectuals, scientists and experts actively support domestic development, particularly in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation. They have set up 10 innovation and expert networks in 22 countries and territories, connecting more than 2,000 members.

According to Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, work related to overseas Vietnamese made significant progress in 2025.

These efforts strengthened patriotism and deepened overseas communities’ connection to the homeland.

Overseas Vietnamese have invested in 457 projects in Vietnam with total registered capital of US$1.729 billion and send home about $15 billion in remittances each year.

Remittances were estimated at a record high of more than US$16 billion in 2025, providing a major financial resource that directly supports national development.
