Leading Latin American media group seeks to highlight Vietnam's story

Founded in Caracas in 2005, TELESUR has grown to become a major Latin American multimedia network that broadcasts globally in Spanish and English

THE HANOI TIMES — Patricia Villegas, Chairwoman of Latin America's leading media group TELESUR, pledged to promote the image of a resilient Vietnam during a meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Trung My in Venezuela on July 3.

Villegas said that Vietnam has consistently been a key focus of TELESUR's coverage, particularly stories about the country's fight for independence, its rich cultural heritage, and President Ho Chi Minh's legacy.

Villegas stated that the network is committed to expanding its coverage of Vietnam’s development in the current era of integration, with a particular focus on the 'Era of National Rise', led by General Secretary To Lam.

Villegas also expressed a keen interest in collaborating with prominent Vietnamese media outlets, such as the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Vietnam Television (VTV), to deliver accurate and authoritative news to Spanish-speaking audiences in Latin America.

Villegas proposed collaborating on content to highlight significant national events, such as the 80th anniversary of National Day in 2025 and the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in early 2026.

Ambassador Vu Trung My welcomed TELESUR’s goodwill and praised its role in promoting a positive image of Vietnam in the region. He noted that TELESUR was among the first international media outlets to report on Vietnam’s recent administrative reform, which officially launched a new two-tier local government model on 1 July.

Founded in Caracas in 2005, TELESUR has become a leading Latin American multimedia news network, broadcasting in Spanish and English to over 130 countries and territories worldwide.
