Mark Rutte welcomed in Vietnam for 3rd time

This visit is expected to open a new chapter in bilateral relations as the Netherlands accounts for 48% of European investment in Vietnam.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte attended the welcoming ceremony hosted by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi this morning [November 2].

This is the third visit by the Dutch Prime Minister, who has come to the country he has affection for and has promoted effective cooperation over the past decade (his first official visit to Vietnam as Prime Minister was in 2014 and the second in 2019).

The two prime ministers are scheduled to attend a Hi-tech Forum and a Green Economy Forum in addition to discussions on a wide range of issues pertaining to politics, sustainable agriculture, climate response, investment, and trade.

The Netherlands is considered a European friend of Vietnam with its financial and technical assistance in socio-economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, education, healthcare, and coping with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rutte’s visit will open a new chapter in the bilateral relations with cooperation in hi-tech, innovation, and the semiconductor industry. Remarkably, a hi-tech mission accompanies the Dutch government’s leader this time.
Mark Rutte visits Vietnam just 10 months after the trip to the Netherlands, paid by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in December 2022.
