MAY 10: Vietnam’s Covid-19 cases hit record high since 2020

This has been the highest confirmed Covid-19 cases recorded in Vietnam since the beginning of the pandemic.

The novel coronavirus infections in Vietnam on May 10 hit the record, at 125, the highest number confirmed since the outbreak has broken out in the country in early 2020.

Confirmed cases has so far included kids, pupils, students, and workers at industrial parks.

The additional cases lift the country’s total Covid-19 patients to 3,461, including 458 since the resurgence of the fresh outbreak on April 29.

On the day, a national consultation meeting was held to provide the best treatment to four patients of critical conditions, including one receives extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support.

In addition, nine others are also in critical conditions.

At the consultation, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Binh, head of the Health Ministry's Division on Treating Critical Covid-19 Patients, warned of opportunistic infections caused by prolonged use of corticosteroids.

Given the widespread pandemic, more places nationwide are put on lockdown for at least three weeks.
