As Vietnam prepares for its most important political event of the year, weather authorities say conditions across much of the country are expected to remain stable, supporting major activities in the capital and beyond.
THE HANOI TIMES — Favorable weather conditions are forecast during the Party's 14th National Congress scheduled for January 19-25 in Hanoi, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMC).

The capital is forecast to see mostly dry and sunny weather from January 18 to 20, with cold conditions at night and in the early morning. From the night of January 20 through January 22, rain is expected as a strong northeast monsoon moves in, the agency said.
Colder weather is likely from January 21 to 25, with nighttime and early-morning temperatures in Hanoi dropping to 10°C-12°C, while daytime highs are expected to range between 15°C and 19°C.
Across northern Vietnam, dry weather is forecast to continue until January 19, accompanied by light morning fog and sunny conditions during the day. Cold temperatures will prevail at night and in the early morning.
From late January 20 onward, a strong cold front is expected to bring rain and a sharp drop in temperatures. From January 22 to 25, widespread severe cold is likely, with frost possible in high mountainous areas.
In the central region, from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai, weather conditions are expected to remain clear and sunny through January 20. From January 21 to 25, the weather is forecast to become more stable with little rainfall, though deep cold could affect northern parts of the region.
Meanwhile, the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam are expected to enjoy largely dry and sunny weather throughout January 18-25. Light morning fog may occur, and cooler temperatures are anticipated at night and in the early morning, particularly in highland areas.
The beneficiaries include people with meritorious service to the revolution, social assistance and social pension recipients and other vulnerable groups, as part of the Government’s effort to ensure broad social support during major national events.
Hanoi Police has proactively monitored security in strategic areas and implemented measures to prevent any hostile plots to ensure absolute security for the political event.

The incoming cold wave will bring showers, with northeasterly winds of level 3 and a marked shift to cold weather between 7°C and 13°C until early next week.
