Along with drastic measures to help business recovery, Hanoi would soon reopen attraction spots, cultural and spiritual heritage.
Hanoi has no time to waste to gear up socio-economic recovery along with the fight against the pandemic.
“Hanoi gives priority to ongoing administrative reform and supporting businesses to recover from the pandemic,” he said.

Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung gave the remarks at a meeting discussing the city’s situation after a week-long Tet held today [February 7].
According to Dung, the city’s right preparation for Tet had helped ensure that the locals enjoyed a safe and happy festive period, while public order and social stability were maintained throughout Tet.
“Hanoi is effectively containing the pandemic with the number of daily infection cases on the decline,” Dung said.
The city Party chief called for health facilities, especially those at the grassroots level, to enhance capabilities to better meet public demands.
With public investment among key priorities for economic growth, Dung expected local authorities to speed up the execution of large-scale projects by addressing the concerns of contractors.
Among those, the feasibility study for the Ring road No.4 project should be completed and submitted to the Government ahead of the National Assembly’s session next May, he noted.
Dung mentioned the necessity to continue pushing for the renovation of old buildings and investment in three strategic fields of healthcare, education, and cultural-historical heritage sites.
Regarding the education sector, Dung called for greater attention in the construction of 450 new schools and improving the quality of teachers.
In the field of culture, he urged greater decentralization in carrying out preservation works for heritage sites, as well as in soon reopening attraction spots, cultural and spiritual heritage.
This year, the city aims to launch the construction of Ngo Quyen Temple in Dong Anh district and the restoration of the Kinh Thien Palace.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung noted the city had provided support for social beneficiaries ahead of Tet with over 1.9 million gift packages worth a total of VND725 billion (US$32 million). Dung said the market price of necessities before and during the Tet remained stable with abundant supply meeting local demands. The total value of goods supply during the Tet was estimated at VND35.4 trillion ($1.56 billion), up 10% against the previous Tet, while retailers posted a 7-12% rise in revenue during the period, in which online shopping accounted for 25% of the total, up 25%. |
