Norwegian company inaugurates US$28.5-million factory in Vietnam

The Norwegian animal feed manufacturer is expected to develop aquaculture in the country in the coming years.

Skretting Vietnam, the Norwegian feed manufacturer, is building a new US$28.5-million factory in the southern province of Long An as part of its commitment to aquaculture development in Vietnam and the Southeast Asia region.

The new factory will supply the growing market with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons.

The facility will enable effective feed supply to key farming provinces in the Mekong Delta and beyond. The new factory is located next to Skretting Vietnam’s existing facilities in Thuan Dao Industrial Zone, Long An.

“This new factory in Vietnam is a logical and necessary step towards strengthening Skretting and Nutreco's position as a global competitor in Asia,” said Therese Log Bergjord, Skretting CEO. “I’m excited to see how we continue to grow in the coming years.”

Skretting, a subsidiary of Nutreco - a global group in animal nutrition and aquafeed, entered the Vietnamese market 10 years ago when it acquired Tomboy Aquafeed JSC, a shrimp and fish feed company, which opened its latest shrimp feed factory in 2017.
