National interest of the highest order
Throughout his distinguished career in various key positions entrusted to him by the Party, State, and People—such as a member of the Central Committee from the VII to XIII terms, Politburo member from the VIII to XIII terms, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Review, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Chairman of the National Assembly, President, and General Secretary from the XI to XIII terms—Nguyen Phu Trong has made significant contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, especially in the modernization, construction, and defense of the country.
As General Secretary, he has successfully united the Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat, leading the Party, people, and military through challenges to achieve great successes. His leadership has built the country's strength, international standing, and reputation and won high praise from domestic and international public opinion. According to former National Assembly deputy Y Luon Nie Kdam, Nguyen Phu Trong's reforms have been warmly applauded by the people, contributing to national stability and development.
“Trong, known for his bold reforms, is widely loved and respected by the people. His leadership has stabilized the country and fostered the development of people's lives. These achievements are due to his significant contributions in providing clear and effective guidance and policies for the nation's progress,” Kdam told The Vietnam News Agency.
Internationally, Abdulrahman Omar Kinana, Vice Chairman of the Revolutionary Party of Tanzania, praises Nguyen Phu Trong's adept leadership, noting significant national and international achievements and innovative Party-building initiatives.
“Under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has made remarkable achievements. His groundbreaking initiatives in Party-building have fortified the Communist Party of Vietnam and made it more responsive to the people's aspirations.
Economic and social growth has been robust, with significant progress in poverty reduction, positioning Vietnam as a global leader in achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.”
Joining the Party on December 19, 1967, and with nearly 57 years of service, Trong has remained steadfastly loyal to the Party, the nation, and the people. He exemplifies the resilience and intellect of a dedicated communist, adhering to Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, while upholding revolutionary ethics and pioneering spirit.
General Nguyen Quoc Thuoc, a former Central Committee member, highlights Nguyen Phu Trong's ability to unite and mobilize the Party and people.
“General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has effectively aligned and unified the will of the entire Party and people. His leadership now embodies the collective will and strength of the Party and the nation. He insists on maintaining the Party’s integrity and strength to restore the trust of both the people and Party members in the leadership.”
Sharing Thuoc’s view, Professor Nguyen Anh Tri, a National Assembly deputy, expressed his pride and confidence in Nguyen Phu Trong's leadership, affirming that he had successfully fulfilled the expectations of the Party and people.
“We firmly believe that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has fulfilled the responsibilities entrusted to him by the Party and the People in an admirable manner.”
As General Secretary, Nguyen Phu Trong has demonstrated exceptional leadership, fostering unity within the Party and ensuring a strategic vision for the nation's development. He emphasizes the importance of safeguarding and creatively applying Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, upholding the Party's renewal policies and prioritizing national interests to strengthen and protect socialist Vietnam.

Professor Ly Viet Quang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Institute, emphasizes that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has made no exceptions when it comes to corruption and misconduct — not even for high-ranking officials. This approach aligns with Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on anti-corruption.
The fight against corruption continues with innovative and in-depth methods. The Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption has expanded its role to include both corruption and malpractice prevention, focusing on forging the political, moral, and lifestyle integrity of Party members as the root to prevent all irregularities.
Similarly, provincial anti-corruption committees have been established across all 63 provinces and cities, showing early positive results and addressing the issue of uneven enforcement.
Efforts to improve legal and policy frameworks for economic management and anti-corruption are also progressing, with the aim of creating an environment where corruption is neither desired nor possible.
Organizational reforms, administrative improvements, and enhanced transparency are being put into practice. The quality of anti-corruption efforts and coordination among relevant agencies has increased, and there have been advancements in anti-corruption education and communication.

The Party’s inspection, supervision, and disciplinary actions continue to be further strengthened, with a focus on implementing new regulations effectively. This has helped curb political and moral decline, as well as issues like factionalism, individualism, and abuse of power among Party members.
According to Duong Quang Phai, former head of the Research Department of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, under Nguyen Phu Trong's leadership, the country has made significant socio-economic and political progress.
“This success is attributed to the collective efforts of the Party and people, with General Secretary Trong playing a crucial role, especially in ensuring that high-profile corruption cases are not overlooked,” said Phai.
In his personal life, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is known for his simplicity, modesty, and integrity, which serve as a powerful example for Party members. He often quotes from Nikolai Ostrovsky’s famous work “How the Steel Was Tempered”: “The most precious things in life are one’s own life and personal honor, as we only live once. One should live in such a way as to avoid regrets for wasted time or deplorable deeds that bring scorn from others. At the end of life, one should be proud of having dedicated all his/her life and energy to the noblest cause: the struggle for national liberation and human freedom, and of having brought happiness to the people.”
