Party Chief To Lam pays tribute to ancestors at Thang Long Citadel

The Party chief expresses deep respect and gratitude to past emperors who helped build and defend the nation.

THE HANOI TIMES — General Secretary To Lam today [February 16], the 29th day of the final lunar month, offered incense at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at House 67 in Hanoi.

In the warm atmosphere of the Lunar New Year, General Secretary To Lam and delegates offered incense at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in Hanoi, expressing deep respect and gratitude to past emperors who helped build and defend the nation. They also prayed for peace, prosperity and happiness for the people.

During a meeting with staff of the Thang Long heritage site, Lam praised their efforts in managing, preserving and promoting the cultural value of the complex.

He described the citadel as a thousand-year historical landmark that embodies the nation’s cultural essence and long-standing traditions. Successive dynasties ruled and defended the country from this site, shaping Vietnam’s enduring legacy.

The Party chief called on staff to continue restoring, preserving and promoting the heritage. He urged them to introduce its historical values more effectively to domestic and international visitors, strengthening pride in the nation’s legacy and in Thang Long – Hanoi.

Earlier the same morning, Lam offered incense in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at House 67 within the Presidential Palace complex. The house is where President Ho Chi Minh spent his final days and it preserves many personal items linked to his life and revolutionary career.

In a solemn setting, Lam paid his respects to President Ho Chi Minh, describing him as a shining example of patriotism and moral integrity.

He noted that President Ho Chi Minh left behind not only a great revolutionary legacy but also a lasting moral example of lifelong dedication and sacrifice for national independence, human dignity and peace among nations.

The Party chief commended staff at the Ho Chi Minh relic site for safeguarding valuable documents and artifacts related to the late leader. He urged them to further improve preservation work and enhance public outreach so that people at home and abroad can better understand Ho Chi Minh’s life and contributions.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, Lam wished all staff and their families good health and happiness and encouraged them to continue fulfilling their responsibilities.

In 2025, the relic site welcomed about 2.6 million domestic and international visitors. It also organized multiple exhibitions and thematic displays, including showcases on the 14 Party congresses and activities marking the election of the 16th National Assembly, drawing large numbers of officials, Party members, students and tourists.
