THE HANOI TIMES — In the lead-up to the 2026 Tet (Lunar New Year of the Horse), an exhibition of creative handicrafts and design products is taking place in Phu Dong Commune, aiming to create a festive atmosphere and stimulate domestic consumption.

The event features 90 booths showcasing One Commune One Product (OCOP) items, handicrafts, traditional craft village products and essential consumer goods to meet local shopping demand.
Running until February 13, the fair is designed with a spring-themed miniature landscape and photo area to create a lively focal point for visitors.
Local artisans are presenting and introducing hundreds of artistic paper flower works, bonsai trees and a wide range of handicraft products and Tet decorations.
The products combine traditional techniques with artisan creativity and modern aesthetics, with many new designs emphasizing environmental friendliness in line with green consumption trends.
The exhibition also includes hands-on activities, artisan exchanges and live demonstrations of paper flower shaping, recreating the atmosphere of a traditional northern Vietnamese spring market.
These activities help spread traditional cultural values while raising community awareness about preserving and developing traditional crafts.
Nguyen Van Thuyet, Vice Chairman of the Phu Dong Commune People's Committee, said the event connects trade, enhances the value of traditional craft and rural industrial products and improves access to regional specialties and OCOP items, thereby stimulating consumer demand.
The exhibition also supports the commune’s sustainable economic restructuring and helps implement the campaign “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods”, he said at the opening ceremony on the night of February 9.
Many consumers are interested in handicraft products at the exhibition.
Nguyen Dinh Thang, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said the exhibition is part of the capital’s trade promotion programs linked with culture and tourism.
It helps residents celebrate the Lunar New Year in a safe and joyful way while promoting typical products and the cultural values of the traditional Tet holiday, he said.
The department has carried out various supply-demand connection activities to support businesses, cooperatives and craft villages in expanding consumer markets, Thang added.
“The model of Tet-season exhibitions and product display spaces has proven effective in meeting shopping and sightseeing needs while creating direct links between producers and consumers,” he said.
