Tet Trade Fair brings traditional goods to Suburban Hanoi
The event aims to enhance shopping experiences of locals during Vietnam's biggest traditional holiday while stimulating domestic consumption, expanding markets and promoting Vietnamese brands.
THE HANOI TIMES — The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade on February 5 launched a Tet-themed exhibition and promotional program in Suoi Hai Commune, a suburban area of the capital, aimed at boosting local trade and meeting Lunar New Year shopping demand.
Running through February 11, the event features around 60 booths showcasing consumer goods, handicrafts, traditional craft village products and regional specialties from Hanoi and other provinces, many of them certified under Vietnam’s One Commune One Product (OCOP) program.
Participating businesses and cooperatives offer visitors access to locally made goods with clear origins, highlighting Vietnam’s traditional craftsmanship and regional cultural identity ahead of Tet, the country’s most important annual holiday.

The exhibition combines product displays with cultural and traditional activities associated with Tet, creating a festive atmosphere while promoting domestic consumption in outlying districts of Hanoi.
A recreated northern Vietnamese spring market, featuring seasonal decorations and traditional customs, adds a cultural dimension to the event and aims to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of both residents and visitors, organizers said.
Nguyen Dinh Thang, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said the program is expected to help stabilize the local market during the peak holiday period, support social welfare and strengthen trade promotion and business connectivity in the capital.
The exhibition aims to connect local producers with consumers, boost production, stimulate domestic consumption, support the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign, and help build a sustainable brand for Suoi Hai craft village while creating jobs and increasing local incomes.
Authorities said the exhibition is part of efforts to position Suoi Hai Commune as an emerging craft village destination, linking traditional culture with economic development and community-based tourism.
According to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, similar display spaces linked to spring flower fairs are being organized simultaneously in Minh Chau, Kieu Phu, O Dien and Lien Minh communes to serve suburban shopping demand through February 11 ahead of Lunar New Year 2026.
