PM Chinh: CMC creative space must be a hub of Vietnamese culture and intelligence

CMC Creative Space Hanoi aims to unite culture, intelligence and technology to drive Vietnam’s digital transformation and innovation forward.

THE HANOI TIMES — Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on June 1 presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the CMC Creative Space Hanoi (CCS Hanoi), a US$300 million project marking a major strategic move by Vietnamese tech giant CMC Corporation.

Speaking at the event, Chinh said that the complex must become a convergence point for culture, intelligence, and innovation, helping to spread Vietnamese values to the world and contribute to national development.

Built on a site of more than 11,000 square meters with 23 above-ground floors and three basements, CCS Hanoi is envisioned as an open artificial intelligence hub (C.OpenAI), complementing its counterpart in Ho Chi Minh City, CCS Tan Thuan, a data infrastructure center.

With over 90,000 square meters of floor space, the complex will house a data center, R&D facilities, training zones, and a startup support area, providing workspaces for more than 5,000 tech engineers.

At the heart of the complex lies the CMC Data Center, which will integrate the latest technologies in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, big data, and next-gen networking. A core part of this infrastructure is C.OpenAI, an open ecosystem powered by 25 proprietary technologies developed by CMC.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Government officials and business representatives kick off the project in Hanoi on June 1.

Accordign to Chairman Nguyen Trung Chinh, CMC aims to reach $1 billion in revenue, 10,000 employees, and operations in 30 countries by 2028.

"CCS Hanoi will be a vital pillar of the group's Go Global strategy and host strategic collaborations with global tech giants such as NVIDIA, Microsoft, Google, Samsung, and AWS," he said.

Prime Minister Chinh praised CMC for its bold vision and commitment, saying the project embodies the spirit of the Party’s strategic push in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. He called it a flagship private-sector initiative aligned with Vietnam’s broader goal of becoming a high-income, developed nation by 2045.

“Our country is entering a new era of prosperity and global standing,” said Chính. “To meet our national targets, we must foster strong, sustainable growth driven by innovation and human capital.”

He urged CMC to lead in science, technology, and innovation, becoming a model of private-sector dynamism, and to inspire businesses, academic institutions, and especially young people to pursue innovation and national development.

Stressing the principle of “What’s said must be done, what’s promised must be delivered, and every result must be tangible, measurable, and accountable,” Prime Minister Chinh expressed confidence that CMC would help shape a Vietnamese knowledge and innovation valley open to all, a center of digital, green, humane and globalized development.

He also encouraged the company to strengthen partnerships with training institutions, ensure social welfare, and promote equal access to technology, particularly for disadvantaged and remote communities.

“The government always stands with businesses,” he said, calling on ministries and Hanoi authorities to support CMC and the private sector by removing barriers and facilitating growth.

The Prime Minister concluded by urging CMC to keep aiming high, thinking big, and delivering real, impactful results, turning CCS Hanoi into a powerhouse of national innovation and global contribution.
