President Phuc and his delegation respectfully expressed their infinite gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh and the great merits of the martyrs, who dedicated their lives to the Fatherland’s independence and freedom.

Here, many important decisions leading to the success of the August Revolution were taken by President Ho Chi Minh, including the establishment of the Liberation Zone which covers six provinces of Cao Bang - Bac Kan - Lang Son - Ha Giang - Tuyen Quang - Thai Nguyen.

The August Revolution of 1945 constituted the most important turning point in contemporary Vietnamese history.

It formally marked the end of French colonialism in Vietnam and the beginning of Vietnamese national independence.

Earlier, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his entourage offered incense at Tan Trao Communal House, the place where the National Congress of Tan Trao, the predecessor of the Vietnamese National Assembly, convened on August 16, 1945.

He also visited Then singing Club in Tan Lap Village, Tan Trao Commune, Son Duong District and Then singing artist Ma Van Duc, 72, at his home in Tan Ha ward, Tuyen Quang City.

President wishes that the artisans continue to preserve and promote the unique value of Then singing - an intangible cultural heritage of the Tay ethnic group that has just been inscribed by UNESCO.
