Red Star Awards 2025 honors 100 young entrepreneurs and innovation spirit

Hanoi welcomed one of Vietnam’s largest gatherings of young business leaders as the Red Star Awards 2025 recognized 100 outstanding entrepreneurs whose companies are shaping the country’s economic future.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi hosted one of the country’s largest gatherings of young business leaders this week as the Red Star Awards 2025 honored 100 outstanding entrepreneurs across multiple key sectors.

After several rounds of screening and 43 field visits to enterprises nationwide, the national council selected the Top 100 young entrepreneurs and the top 10 Red Star Award winners from more than 300 applicants.

Speaking at the ceremony, National Assembly Vice Chairman Do Van Chien congratulated the honorees, saying they “embody the intellect, dynamism and aspiration of a new generation committed to contributing to national development while building their own success.”

The economic scale of this year’s awardees highlights the growing strength of Vietnam’s young entrepreneur community.

Companies led by the Top 100 hold around US$120 billion in assets and generate more than $12.4 billion in annual revenue.

Their post-tax profit totals about $1.7 billion and they contribute roughly $840 million to the state budget. Their enterprises support nearly 60,000 jobs.

Within this group, the top 10 Red Star Award winners stand out.

Their companies control more than $112 billion in assets and generate over $8.6 billion in annual revenue, with post-tax profits above $1.2 billion and tax contributions reaching $560 million.

They operate across critical sectors including finance, heavy industry, logistics, energy, agriculture, consumer goods and technology.

This year’s program also presented a special honorary award to an entrepreneur who overcame major personal adversity to build a business with community impact.

The judging council said the recognition reinforces the core values of resilience, integrity and public service.

Dang Hong Anh, Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Federation and Chairman of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association, said the honorees “exemplify the qualities of the emerging entrepreneurial generation with intelligence, ambition and a spirit of service.”

His remarks reflected broader expectations for young business leaders as Vietnam navigates a more competitive economic landscape.

The awards coincided with the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association, which gathered more than 1,000 delegates.

The association now represents about 21,000 members across 34 provinces and cities, two major economic groups and 16 affiliated clubs.

Member enterprises have become an important pillar of Vietnam’s private sector, employing around five million people and generating more than $40 billion in annual revenue. Their contribution accounts for over 10% of national GDP.

During the 2022–2025 term, the association organized more than 1,000 policy dialogues connecting businesses with government agencies and offering practical recommendations.

A major milestone was the revival of the Vietnam Private Sector Economic Forum 2025, which launched an initiative to train 10,000 CEOs through 2030.

Trade promotion expanded significantly, with more than 1,400 programs nationwide. Agreements with BIDV, MBBank and Vingroup improved access to capital, strengthened supply chains and supported investment. More than 1,400 training programs were held to improve management capability and support digital transformation.

Community engagement remained central, with over 1,450 social programs worth nearly $12 million implemented, covering disaster relief, education and welfare. Sports activities created vibrant platforms for networking across local chapters.

The 2025–2030 term begins with the theme “Pioneering Innovation, Creating Value, Advancing into a New Era”.

During the upcoming terms, the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association will focus on several key targets such as expanding membership to between 35,000 and 50,000 entrepreneurs and ensuring that 95% receive training in modern governance and digital skills.

Economic goals are ambitious. Member enterprises aim to contribute 15% of national GDP and generate eight million jobs. Digital transformation is central, with a target for 30% of member revenue to come from digital business models.

By 2030, half of all member enterprises are expected to adopt ESG practices. The association plans to help 50,000 household businesses formalize operations, provide advisory support to 10,000 firms and bring at least 1,000 into the AI for SMEs program.

The association also expects to expand the mentorship model “Each Young Entrepreneur Guides Two New Entrepreneurs”.

Regional integration is another priority. The association aims to help at least 50 member enterprises join global supply chains and promote the creation of an ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Alliance.

The national pavilions for young Vietnamese entrepreneurs will be explored at major international trade fairs.

As the 2025 Red Star Award winners take the spotlight, their achievements reflect a generation defined by ambition, resilience and a clear sense of responsibility that is increasingly shaping Vietnam’s economic future.
