“Under the light – the summer voyage” lights up musical dreams of youth

Through music, students discover the courage to face challenges and bring their deepest emotions to life with every note on their chosen instruments.

THE HANOI TIMES — A live concert titled "Under the Light #3 - Summer Voyage" has created an inspiring stage for young confident musicians to show off their skills beyond the classroom.

The show, hosted by Leo Art Center at the Hanoi College of Arts Theater, gathered 350 audience members, including parents, students and music lovers.

Inspired by a sea voyage, the audience joined students on an ocean adventure, searching for treasure, rescuing a mermaid and overcoming challenges from sea monsters.

All these obstacles were solved not with weapons or brute strength, but with singing, melodies and unity, a message that music connects and heals. Reflecting the belief that “music is a mirror of the self and the soul,” the show offered a journey anyone can embark on, at any age.

A distinctive feature of “Under the Light” was its range of participants, from preschoolers to university students, all sharing the same stage in roles as singers, musicians and actors. Every performer brings their own style and personality, together creating a colorful, technically rich and emotionally vibrant musical tapestry.

Director of Leo Art Center To Trong Giang said that the entire show is designed and carried out by the students, from scriptwriting and rehearsals to stage production.

“I am proud to see the children organize such a successful show on their own. Their passion, teamwork and dedication offset the inexperience and make an impressive, complete night,” he told The Hanoi Times at the show last week.

Communication volunteer Lam Tra described the organization of the show as her new and joyful experience.

"It is a rare opportunity for me to work with younger students, so this time I feel like an ‘older sister,’ more mature and responsible,” she said.

Tra was impressed by the seriousness, dedication and passion the students had for music. "They give it all to studying and practicing, showcasing remarkable talent from the very beginning," she added.

Each student takes on a different role in the performance.

As a music training center for all ages, Leo follows the philosophy “Ignite passion – Lead the future”, viewing music as a complete educational journey beyond performing skills.

Over the past few years, the center has combined classroom training with real-life practice, giving students opportunities to perform in concerts considered “open classrooms”.

Through music, students learn to face challenges, choose instruments they connect with, and, above all, express genuine feelings in every note. Every performance is a show and proof of personal growth.

For that, Tra praised the creative environment at Leo Art Center. “Here, students are always encouraged to express themselves freely in a youthful and open way, keeping up with trends," she said.

"This spirit is reflected on the stage and throughout the organizing process. If given the chance, I would love to continue accompanying future events.”

Leo Art Center director Giang said that future seasons will put students at the center of attention. "We want to develop their talent, confidence and stage presence rather than chase commercial objectives,” he said.

While the show ended, the experiences on stage will continue to accompany the students, becoming a valuable part of their ongoing musical journey.
