Vietjet to build aircraft maintenance facilities at Long Thanh Airport

The aircraft maintenance project at Long Thanh Airport will be completed this year.

THE HANOI TIMES — Vietjet has secured a special bid to develop and operate Hangars No. 3 and 4 at Long Thanh International Airport. The project covers an 8.4-hectare site in Zone E-01 of the airport complex.

The VND1.5 trillion (US$60 million) project is scheduled for completion in 2025-2026, with a projected useful life ending by the end of 2050.

The project is part of Vietnam’s plan to establish a comprehensive maintenance hub at Long Thanh Airport to ensure service readiness for the first operational phase.

Each hangar will be able to service at least two Code E aircraft, such as B747s, B787s, and A350s, as well as four Code C aircraft, such as A320s and A321s. The facilities will also include office buildings, technical systems, and support infrastructure.

During the first five years of operation, Vietjet proposes paying 0.05% of its pre-VAT revenue into the state budget.

From year six onward, the company plans to contribute a minimum of 2%, increasing by 2.5% annually.

Vietjet, one of Asia’s leading low-cost carriers, currently operates over 145 routes (44 domestic and 101 international) and served 25.9 million passengers in 2024.
