Vietnam to provide free digital tools to support business transformation

The Ministry of Finance will provide free digital tools to help small businesses modernize to boost productivity through digital transformation.

The HANOI TIMES — The Ministry of Finance (MoF) will provide free access to essential digital applications to support businesses in their digital transformation.

The support package includes services such as business registration, digital signatures, e-invoicing, and online payment platforms.

This is part of a comprehensive national digital transformation plan, as outlined in the draft Proposal on Enterprise Digital Transformation. The plan aims to formalize one million household businesses under Resolution 68 on private sector development.

In addition to rolling out free digital tools, the MoF will collaborate with the Ministry of Science and Technology to develop a unified, “one-stop” service platform.

The platform will integrate all administrative procedures related to business conversion and offer legal, accounting, and management consulting services. It will also facilitate connections with digital service providers.

The ministry also plans to simplify administrative procedures by conducting 100% of processes online and integrating user identification through the national VNeID system. These measures aim to increase transparency and shorten processing times.

According to a 2024 national survey by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, only 30%–40% of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have implemented digital tools, mostly at a basic level, such as email or simple accounting software.

The current drive addresses the urgent need to prevent SMEs, cooperatives, and household businesses from falling behind in an increasingly digitized global economy.

Officials emphasize that digital transformation is a solution to current challenges and a driver of increased productivity and value-added growth.

A close partnership between the government, businesses, and service providers is essential to building a comprehensive digital ecosystem in Vietnam.
