Vietnam boosts promotional efforts to tap US market potential

Vietnamese businesses are expected to give a platform to explore export opportunities and e-commerce strategies in the US market.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) will host an online seminar to promote trade with the US market.

The event, which is scheduled for July 16, will be hosted via Zoom and will offer Vietnamese-English interpretation.

According to the organizers, the US has long been Vietnam’s leading export destination, but it is also one of the most demanding markets due to its complex technical barriers, import taxes, and strict regulatory requirements.

The seminar is set to cover key issues, such as consumer trends, technical standards, rules of origin, import tariffs, logistics, and cross-border e-commerce.

Hoang Minh Chien, Deputy Director General of the agency, will highlight the importance of in-depth promotional efforts for expanding into the US market, while Do Ngoc Hung, Trade Counselor of the Vietnam Trade Office in the US, will present an overview of US market trends and high-potential product categories.

A representative from the MOIT's Import-Export Department will provide guidance on rules of origin and preferential tax policies.

Marc Mealy, Senior Vice President of the US-ASEAN Business Council, will also speak at the seminar, along with representatives from Amazon and Wayfair. Speakers will share practical solutions to help Vietnamese businesses increase exports through e-commerce platforms.

The event will conclude with a live Q&A session, during which businesses can voice their specific concerns and receive direct guidance from experts.
