Vietnam stressed the key role of parliaments in fostering multilateralism, peace, and global justice in the face of today's complex challenges.
THE HANOI TIMES — National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man laid out three key areas of focus for parliamentary cooperation during the general debate at the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament held on July 29.
In light of today's complex global challenges, he emphasized the need for parliaments worldwide to champion multilateralism, peace, and justice.
Chairman Man urged stronger dialogue and trust-building among nations, affirming: "Dialogue, not confrontation, is the only path toward mutual cooperation."

He also called on parliaments to promote justice and social equality by protecting human rights, reducing disparities, and ensuring that no one is left behind.
He emphasized the need for stronger oversight to ensure that governments deliver on their commitments to social equity.
Man then encouraged parliaments to take bold action on climate change and sustainable development by passing environmental protection laws and supporting communities affected by climate change.
Notably, Chairman Man stressed the importance of parliaments seeking common ground, rising above their differences, and working together to create a future where peace, justice, and prosperity are shared by all.
“Let this conference be a new starting point for stronger cooperation and a better world for future generations,” he said.
The three-day conference, held from July 29 to 31 in Geneva, Switzerland, brought together over 115 delegations, including 102 parliamentary speakers and 33 deputy speakers.
