Vietnam enhances multifaceted cooperation with Chile

Vietnam is a leading and important partner of Chile in Southeast Asia.

THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam values and wants to enhance multifaceted cooperation with Chile, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his meeting with Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font on July 7, on the sidelines of the expanded BRICS summit.

Chinh called on Chile to facilitate investment by Vietnamese enterprises in the country to contribute to Chilean socio-economic development.

President Boric said that Vietnam is a close friend and leading partner of Chile in Southeast Asia. The two sides have a long-standing relationship forged by President Ho Chi Minh and the late Chilean President Salvador Allende and nurtured by many generations.

He hoped that the two countries would foster cooperation in culture, the arts, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. "Chile always treasures and wishes to enhance the relations with Vietnam in its policy towards the Asia-Pacific," said the president.

The two leaders discussed measures to enhance the relationship between the two nations, making it more intensive, substantive, and pragmatic, towards advancing it to a higher level.

During the meeting, Chinh extended the invitation from President Luong Cuong to Chilean President Boric to visit and attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, which will be held in Hanoi in October.
