THE HANOI TIMES — The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (SCOVA) on July 6 held a legal consultation program for Vietnamese citizens in South Korea to enforce Resolution 66 and overseas Vietnamese policies from 2022 to 2026.
Resolution 66 is about reforming lawmaking and enforcement to meet national development demands in the new era.
At the event, SCOVA's Chairman Nguyen Trung Kien said that supporting the overseas Vietnamese community has always been a primary focus of Vietnam’s national solidarity and foreign policies.

He said that legal consultation programs help overseas Vietnamese understand the laws of Vietnam and their host countries to foster integration, legal protection, and a respected status in their resident societies.
Vietnamese Ambassador to South Korea Vu Ho stated that approximately 350,000 Vietnamese citizens are currently residing, studying, and working throughout South Korea.
They play an active role in many different sectors and maintain strong ties with their homeland. Ho emphasized the importance of helping Vietnamese citizens understand regulatory frameworks in both Vietnam and South Korea, particularly concerning investment in Vietnam and foreign labor in South Korea.
As part of the program, lawyers from the Hanoi Bar Association, representatives of the Gyeonggi Bar Association, and the Vietnamese Embassy's legal officers introduced key legal provisions from both countries.
Experts addressed 12 groups of questions from Vietnamese nationals on topics like labor, wages, social insurance, family, real estate, investment, and updates to the amended Nationality Law, including citizenship procedures.
The organizers indicated that Vietnamese citizens in need of additional assistance may contact the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea or the SCOVA.
Regarding overseas Vietnamese, Party General Secretary To Lam emphasized uniting the strength of all Vietnamese, including overseas communities, in national development, while authorities and overseas missions will expand legal support under Resolution 66 to further engage global Vietnamese through knowledge, creativity, and civic responsibility.
