Vietnam leaders commiserate with India pandemic losses

India is suffering the second wave of Covid-19 after some relaxing festivals in March.

Vietnam’s top leaders have consoled their Indian counterparts over the devastating consequences left by Covid-19 pandemic on the subcontinent that have claimed roughly 3,000 death and 300,000 infections per day over the last few days.

Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on April 28 offered his sincere condolences to Indian counterpart Ram Nath Kovind on the pandemic situation in the South Asian country.

On the same day, Vietnam’s Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent condolences to his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son expressed sympathy to Indian counterpart, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

In the messages, Vietnamese leaders shared the grief that Indian people are struggling with in the fight against Covid-19, affirming that Vietnam stands with the Indian people throughout the pandemic.

They believe that India will promote its great internal strengths to lead the country through difficulties soon for the people’s safety and the country’s prospect.

On April 27, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung met with Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Kumar Verma to inform that Vietnam keeps standing on Indian side in the pandemic fight.

In a speech delivered at the Embassy of India in Hanoi on April 8, Pranay Kumar Verma said that self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat) is key to lead India through the pandemic.

Indeed, India was leading the fight against Covid-19 with this vaccination drive and is on a path towards self-reliance and self-sufficiency while improving social welfare and providing instant assistance to a large number of people who suffered restrictions during the pandemic.
