Vietnam leaders congratulate US elected president Joe Biden

Vietnamese top leaders invite US President Joe Biden to visit Vietnam at the earliest possible time.

Top leaders of Vietnam have sent their congratulations to US President-elect Joe Biden.

Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam and State President Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent congratulatory messages to newly-elected Joe Biden on November 30.

The information was released by Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang of Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In their messages, the Vietnamese leaders wished the US-Vietnam comprehensive partnership, with the foundations built over the past 25 years, to grow further and sustainably for the sake of peace, security, stability, and development in the region.

The New York Times on Monday reported that the chairwoman of the Wisconsin Elections Commission certified President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. as the winner in Wisconsin, formalizing his victory in a state President Trump narrowly carried four years ago.

On the same day, The Guardian reported that Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump to win presidency of the US.

With the victory, Joe Biden becomes the 46th President of the US.

On November 30, Vietnam’s Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh sent congratulations to US Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

In the congratulatory messages, Vietnamese top leaders invited the US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to visit Vietnam at the earliest possible time.

Famous US writer and researcher James Borton said in an article posted on Geopolitical Monitor that cooperation in security and defence ties between Vietnam and the US, especially in maritime security, has grown stronger over the past several years. “Washington takes every opportunity it can to champion Hanoi and improve its international standing.”

According to Mr. Borton, policy experts like Kent Calder, director of the Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies at Johns Hopkins University, believe that the Biden White House will deepen relations with Vietnam.
